Kansas City Storm Shelters

Kansas City, Kansas Storm Shelters

Kansas City, KS sits on what is described as the edge of Tornado Alley- the are in the US most prone to tornadoes. Kansas City and the surrounding areas has been hit by tornadoes before—the most infamous being the Ruskin Heights tornado on May 1957 and the May 2003 Tornado Outbreak Sequence. Forty-four residents were killed in the Ruskin Heights tornado. Kansas City residents know the importance of being prepared for severe weather and the possibility of tornadoes in their area.

Storm Defense Shelters is owned and operated by Kansan Eric Stolfi. After facing a tornado with his family in the countryside of Kansas with no protection except an outdoor culvert, he decided to start a company offering his Kansas neighbors real protection from tornadoes and severe weather. Since that time, he has incorporated the most extensive line of FEMA certified Storm Shelters and Safe Rooms available. He has also built a reputation of honesty, helpfulness and quality work. He knows lives depend on his work.

The National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) reports a large increase in the number of tornadoes in Kansas since they began their record-keeping in 1950. The NCDC statistics show when tornadoes have occurred, how powerful they were, where they touched down and how far they traveled. Frequency changes from year-to-year. This dramatic increase in tornadic activity could be due to more sophisticated radars and weather technology which more readily identifies and predicts tornadoes. The most critical part of survival, as most Kansans already know, is to be aware of the weather (especially during peak tornado season) and to have a designated shelter which can be accessed quickly.

Storm Defense Shelters is the premier dealer for the new innovative Vortex Vault Shelter Bed by Life Lift which was featured on ABC’s Shark Tank. Texan shark Mark Cuban invested in it—recognizing it is the most accessible indoor shelter to-date since it is hidden under your own bed. Storm Defense Shelters also offers other Storm Shelters tested to FEMA standards such as:  Above Ground Concrete Safe Room, Concrete Slope Front Shelter, Concrete Flat Top, Under Ground Garage and Above Ground Garage Shelters, Community Shelters (for schools, businesses, apartments, Mobile Home Parks, and churches) and even Pet Storm Shelters. Every shelter and safe room offered by Storm Defense Shelters has been rigorously tested by the Texas Wind Institute to pass or exceed FEMA protocols to ensure your safety even in an EF5 tornado, straight winds, tornado and home invasions.

Storm Defense Shelters’ mission is to provide real FEMA tested safety for your family, students, employees and all Kansas residents at an affordable price.
